Mustela — Cradle Cap Cream

Cradle cap (infant seborrheic dermatitis) is caused by a transient hypersecretion of the sebaceous glands of the scalp, common in the first weeks of life. It is neither contagious nor painful, but its unappealing appearance often worries parents. Mustela Cradle Cap Cream is based on three complementary active ingredients. Undecyl Dimethyl Oxazoline is a targeted sebum-regulating agent that helps reduce excess sebum production — it is the central functional active ingredient of the product, less known than avocado but clinically relevant for this type of care. Sunflower oil unsaponifiables (Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil Unsaponifiables) provide the phytosterols necessary for maintaining the scalp's skin barrier. Avocado extract (Persea gratissima) helps nourish and soothe. Point of attention: presence of SODIUM BENZOATE (preservative). At standard cosmetic concentrations, well tolerated on infant scalps. The combination with ascorbic acid (vitamin C) can form traces of benzene — not relevant here, the formula does not contain vitamin C. The presence of 1,2-HEXANEDIOL and CAPRYLYL GLYCOL as natural antimicrobial co-preservatives reduces the amount of sodium benzoate needed. The 3-step routine (evening application → overnight action → morning shampoo) is consistent with physiology: the night allows the sebum-regulating active ingredient to work without immediate rinsing. Never scratch the scabs with your hand — risk of injury and secondary superinfection.
