LARREA DIVARICATA EXTRACT is the anti-regrowth active ingredient in the formula, dosed at 3% according to the manufacturer's communication. This extract from the desert plant (creosote bush) contains NDGA (nordihydroguaiaretic acid), an antioxidant polyphenol whose action on certain follicular growth enzymes is documented in cosmetic literature. The mention "dermatologically tested" on the packaging refers to a skin tolerance test and not a clinical demonstration of anti-regrowth efficacy — two levels of proof not to be confused. Pharmacological note: chaparral / Larrea divaricata is known for toxic hepatitis by ORAL route (FDA warning since 1992) — hence the importance of the "do not swallow" warning on this easily accessible pump bottle. By topical route, systemic absorption remains limited and tolerance is documented at 3%.
