Effaclar Foaming Gel is the benchmark cleanser in the Effaclar range for oily, blemish-prone skin. The new Phylobioma formula offers a microbiome positioning consistent with recent scientific data on the role of the skin microbiota in the genesis of imperfections. The active ingredient Phylobioma is not identifiable under this name in the official INCI list—it is communicated as a patented active by the manufacturer. Zinc PCA is a zinc salt known for its sebum-regulating properties in cosmetic formulations. The physiological pH of 5.5 is relevant: an overly alkaline cleansing pH disrupts the hydrolipidic film and promotes microbial imbalance. The clinical study (n=42, 4 weeks) on the finished product is appropriately sized for a cleanser—the data of -38% imperfections and -44% blackheads are communicable. Point of vigilance: the formula contains PARFUM at the end of the INCI list—the new Phylobioma formula has added a fragrance that was absent from the old formula. For profiles with very sensitive skin or with a history of allergic contact to fragrances, this warning is imperative. SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulfate) is the primary surfactant—at pH 5.5 and in a rinse-off product, tolerance is generally good for oily skin, but tightness is possible for very dry or very reactive skin profiles.
