Pyunkang Yul — Calming Deep Moisture Toner 150ml

This toner is based on the same Centella logic as the Calming Moisture Barrier Cream, with an adaptation for a preparatory step: the formula is more fluid, low pH, and additionally incorporates gluconolactone (PHA) as a gentle surface exfoliant. Gluconolactone is a PHA—polyhydroxy acid—whose larger molecular size compared to AHAs (glycolic, lactic) limits penetration and thus irritation. It primarily acts on the surface to promote desquamation of corneocytes, refine texture, and reduce the appearance of pores without compromising the skin barrier. It is a documented exfoliant for sensitive skin and an exception to the contraindication of strong acids during pregnancy. White Willow Bark Extract (Salix Alba Bark Extract) provides natural salicin, a botanical precursor to the salicylate pathway, but distinct from synthetic salicylic acid in terms of concentration and skin bioavailability. The astringent and sebum-regulating effect is real but gentler. Not to be confused with a BHA. The five forms of hyaluronic acid (standard, hydrolyzed, cross-linked, acetylated, trimonium) cover different depths of the epidermis—Hydroxypropyl Trimonium Hyaluronate, in particular, exhibits cationic affinity for the stratum corneum surface, which helps retain hydration after application. Manufacturer's clinical data on this finished product are consistent with the formulation profile: -61% pore size, -34% sebum, -27% dead cells. Fragrance-free, alcohol-free, non-comedogenic formula.
