Argalys — Vegan Pre-Collagen · Coll-Egan® + Hyaluronic Acid

This product is most often sold under the name "vegan collagen" – a commercial term that warrants scientific clarification. Collagen is a protein of strictly animal origin (connective tissue). There is no such thing as plant-based collagen. What the Argalys formula offers is a supplementation strategy involving precursors and cofactors to stimulate endogenous biosynthesis: this is a mechanistically consistent and well-documented approach. Fundamentally, it should be noted that hydrolyzed animal collagen (bovine or marine) is also not "collagen" in the sense of a protein directly incorporated into tissues. Any ingested protein is digested into amino acids before absorption. The effect of collagen peptide supplements therefore also relies on free amino acids, with a possible modulatory contribution from certain hydroxyproline-rich peptides on biosynthesis (documented in some studies, including Proksch et al. 2014, but still debated). The logic of directly providing free glycine and proline, along with enzymatic cofactors vitamin C and zinc, bypasses this digestion step and is, mechanistically, at least as rational. The central active ingredient Coll-Egan® is a proprietary combination of amino acids (glycine, proline, hydroxyproline, glutamic acid, alanine, arginine) + natural vitamin C (acerola) + bamboo extract (orthosilicic acid). The associated European claim relates to vitamin C and normal collagen formation (EU 432/2012). The Argalys formula enhances Coll-Egan® with free glycine (300 mg), free proline (100 mg) and additional vitamin C (ascorbic acid, total 50 mg = 63% NRV), as well as 2.6 mg of zinc (26% NRV, maintenance of normal skin, normal bones). Hyaluronic acid (150 mg per 2 capsules) has no authorized European claims. Its inclusion is justified by several randomized clinical trials on the ingredient (Oe et al. 2017 on skin hydration and fine lines, Kalman et al. 2008 on joint comfort) which document effects after several weeks of oral supplementation. This data relates to the hyaluronic acid ingredient, not specifically to this finished product. This product complements an anti-aging routine as an oral support. It is the only vegan option for profiles seeking "collagen", provided one understands that the logic differs from that of traditional hydrolyzed collagen.
